The objective of this project is to design and implement an automatic plant watering system that uses a microcontroller to monitor soil moisture levels and control a DC motor to water plants as needed.

System Overview

Components

The system includes the following components:

  1. Microcontroller: The central control unit.
    • Arduino: A popular microcontroller platform used for processing sensor data and controlling the system.
  2. Soil Moisture Sensor: Measures the moisture content of the soil.
    • Analog Soil Moisture Sensor: Provides an analog voltage that corresponds to soil moisture levels.
  3. DC Motor: Controls the watering mechanism.
    • Submersible Water Pump: Driven by a DC motor to pump water from a reservoir to the plant.
  4. Relay Module: Switches the DC motor on and off.
    • Relay: Acts as a switch to control the power to the DC motor.
  5. Power Supply: Powers the microcontroller and the DC motor.
    • Adapter/Battery: Provides the necessary voltage and current.
  6. Connecting Wires and Tubing: For wiring the components and delivering water to the plants.
